But not for long because as far as we know, these are the last cassette tape machines we can convert in existence. This Mono Reversing Machine is converted from the reliable Sony TCM-500DV which for many years was our basic standard for Reversing Machines. This unit features all of the same basic functions as a cassette tape recorder/player along with the built-in Speed Control, built-in Speakers, and built-in Microphone. Warranted by RSTS for two(2) years to keep you up and running with your Reverse Speech analysis. Excellent battery life with Double Recording Time, VAR (Voice Activated Recording), easily fits in a pocket or purse without getting tangled.  Discoverer and Founder of Reverse Speech, Mr. Oates came across Naturally occurring sentences while playing recordings in reverse and listening for backwards messages purposely put in Rock'n'Roll called "Backmasking." More curious about these naturally occurring sentences and statements than the "Backmasking", Mr. Oates continued his research and after several years realized the synergistic relationship between the Forwards Speech and the Reverse Speech. That the Speech Reversals related exactly to the subject that was being discussed in the Forwards Speech. Mr. Oates wrote his Theory of Reverse Speech in 1987 and the theory has yet to be improved upon. Digital Reversing Machines?
So far, we have been disappointed by the digital player/recorders that we have looked
at. The problem is the low quality of recording format that makes them useless for
Reverse Speech analysis and in my personal opinion, not good enough for quality musical
enjoyment either. The high end digital models that do record at high enough formats
are as expensive as a computer so you may as well spend the money on a computer which
offers so much more for the money. We continue to look for a model in a reasonable
price range with the high formatting and expect we will see these in the not too distant
future.
